My career in the arts has developed through a combination of museum experience, curatorial research, artist collaboration, and teaching. After earning my BA in Art History and Archaeology from the University of Missouri, where I graduated magna cum laude, I pursued an MA in History of Art with Curating at Birkbeck, University of London. My graduate research focused on representations of the female nude in American black-and-white photography, establishing a foundation for my ongoing interests in photography, gender, identity, and visual culture.
My professional museum career began as an intern at the Frist Art Museum in Nashville, where I gained hands-on experience with exhibition development, curatorial research, and artist relations. Following my internship, I was hired as a Curatorial and Publications Assistant, allowing me to take on greater responsibility in exhibition planning, research, and publication production. One of my primary projects was In Her Place: Nashville Artists in the Twenty-First Century, an exhibition featuring twenty-eight women artists. I helped develop and produce the accompanying catalogue by researching and writing artist biographies, assisting with artist interviews, coordinating image permissions, and contributing to the art direction of catalogue photography. Through ongoing conversations and collaboration, I developed personal connections with each artist and gained a deeper understanding of their individual practices and perspectives. This experience strengthened my commitment to artist-centered curatorial work and demonstrated the importance of thoughtful research and storytelling in exhibition-making.
Following my museum experience, I continued expanding my curatorial practice through independent projects focused on photography, identity, community, and representation. I have developed exhibition concepts, researched artists, written interpretive texts, and explored ways to create opportunities for photographers to share their work with broader audiences. I am especially interested in projects that highlight underrepresented perspectives and foster meaningful connections between artists and communities.
I currently work as an Artist Project Manager with ART/IST Consultancy, supporting artist archives, catalogue development, artwork documentation, and digital image management. I have also contributed research to projects with the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the New Orleans Museum of Art, collaborating with photography curator Dr. Lisa Volpe on print documentation and research for an upcoming exhibition and catalogue. These experiences have broadened my understanding of photography research, archival practices, and the importance of accurate artwork documentation in supporting curatorial projects.
Alongside my curatorial work, I teach art history as an adjunct instructor at the college level. Teaching has given me the opportunity to share my enthusiasm for art and visual culture while helping students develop their visual literacy, critical thinking, and individual interpretations of artworks. I value the role education plays in making art accessible and encouraging people to engage with perspectives beyond their own.
From beginning as an intern at the Frist Art Museum to taking on curatorial and publications responsibilities, pursuing independent projects, managing artist archives, and teaching, my career has been shaped by a commitment to research, collaboration, and meaningful engagement with art. I hope to continue building a career that brings together contemporary art and photography, exhibition-making, publications, and education, creating opportunities for artists' stories to be shared and for audiences to connect with art in lasting ways.
